Review Methodology: How We Test and Score Supplements
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Transparency about how we arrive at our conclusions is at the core of what we do at Blog da Gringa (https://gringa.oliveraulas.top/). This page explains, in detail, the criteria and process we use to evaluate and score the supplements and nutraceutical products we review.
1. Our Evaluation Philosophy
We evaluate supplements the way an informed, detail-oriented consumer would: by looking past marketing claims and focusing on ingredients, transparency, formulation quality, and real-world value. No product review on this site is influenced by whether that product is part of an affiliate program (see our Affiliate Disclosure for more information).
2. Core Scoring Criteria
Each product we review is assessed against the following core criteria. Depending on the product category, we may weigh certain criteria more heavily than others.
2.1 Ingredient Quality and Transparency
- Whether the label discloses exact dosages for each active ingredient, or relies on vague “proprietary blends”;
- The form and bioavailability of key ingredients (for example, the specific form of a mineral or extract used);
- Whether dosages align with amounts commonly referenced in publicly available ingredient research;
- Presence of unnecessary fillers, artificial additives, or allergens.
2.2 Manufacturing Standards
- Whether the product is manufactured in a facility that follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP);
- Availability of third-party testing or certificates of analysis;
- Country of manufacture and sourcing transparency.
2.3 Label and Marketing Accuracy
- Whether marketing claims are reasonable and consistent with what is disclosed on the label;
- Presence of appropriate disclaimers (including FDA-required disclaimers) on the product’s own packaging or sales page;
- Consistency between the manufacturer’s website, label, and any third-party retail listings.
2.4 Value and Pricing
- Cost per serving relative to similar products in the category;
- Subscription terms, return policies, and money-back guarantees;
- Overall value considering ingredient quality and quantity.
2.5 Customer Feedback Signals
- Publicly available customer reviews and ratings across multiple platforms;
- Patterns in feedback related to taste, tolerability, packaging, and customer service;
- Frequency and nature of complaints, when publicly available.
2.6 Brand Reputation and Track Record
- How long the brand has been operating and its standing in the supplement industry;
- History of recalls, warning letters, or public regulatory actions, where publicly disclosed;
- Overall responsiveness and transparency of company communications.
3. Our Scoring Scale
Based on the criteria above, we assign each reviewed product a score, typically presented on a scale (for example, 1 to 10 or 1 to 5 stars, depending on the article format). Scores reflect our editorial assessment relative to other products in the same category, not a clinical or regulatory rating.
4. What We Do Not Do
- We do not conduct our own laboratory or clinical testing of supplements;
- We do not guarantee a specific score in exchange for compensation from a brand or affiliate partner;
- We do not make medical claims about a product’s ability to treat, cure, or prevent any disease (see our Medical/Health Disclaimer).
5. How Often We Re-Evaluate Products
Because supplement formulations, pricing, and third-party certifications can change, we periodically revisit previously reviewed products. If a meaningful change affects our assessment, we update the relevant article and may adjust the score accordingly.
6. Questions About a Specific Review
If you have a question about how we arrived at a specific score, or believe a review needs to be updated, please contact us at contato@bloggringa.com, or see our Corrections Policy.
